Some love stories are written in the stars, and others unfold right at home when you least expect them. Ana and Rares’ journey is a perfect blend of both—a romance that took them across countries, yet was rooted just minutes away from where it all began.
A Love That Crossed Borders
Their story started during Christmas in 2015, when Ana, living in Germany at the time, returned home for the holidays. Despite years of being away, love found her just ten minutes from her hometown, proving that fate works in the most beautiful ways. Their connection was undeniable, and within just three months, they made the bold decision to move in together in London. The rest, as they say, is history.
After eight wonderful years together, marriage wasn’t necessarily on their minds—especially since, by pure coincidence, they already shared the same last name! But one day, Rares realized that time was flying, and it was time to “make an honest woman” out of Ana. And what better place to propose than on a magical sunrise morning in Elounda, Crete? Ana thought they were simply enjoying the view before heading out for a run—little did she know, she’d be running with a ring on her finger and a heart bursting with excitement after saying “yes” to her soulmate.
A Dream Wedding in Crete
Their wedding took place at the breathtaking Karavitakis Winery, a venue surrounded by endless vineyards and the golden glow of the Cretan sun. Planned to perfection by Crete Within Weddings, the celebration was the perfect mix of romance, fun, and unforgettable moments. Their Orthodox ceremony was a beautiful nod to tradition, and as the sun began to set over the winery, we captured some of the most magical shots of the day.
A Touch of Tuscany in Crete – The Lemon-Themed Wedding
Ana and Rares’ wedding was inspired by the beauty of Tuscany, with a stunning lemon-themed decor that brought warmth, elegance, and a Mediterranean touch to their special day. The long table, where all their guests dined together under a canopy of festoon lights, was adorned with natural elements—fresh lemons, fragrant herbs, olive branches, grapes, and fig leaves, creating an atmosphere that felt both intimate and magical.

Each guest received a special touch of Crete to take home—a small bottle of olive oil, a meaningful and authentic gift. The wedding cake was a naked cake, beautifully decorated with citrus fruits like oranges and other seasonal delights, perfectly complementing the fresh and vibrant theme of the wedding.
A Celebration to Remember
From the emotional vows to the fun-filled reception, Ana and Rares’ wedding was a true reflection of their love—effortless, vibrant, and filled with happiness. The laughter, the sunset, the clinking of glasses under the starry sky—it was a celebration of a love story that will continue to age like fine wine.
